The club usually holds two or three Beginners courses throughout the year.
Hinckley Archery Club runs beginners courses for both adults and juniors.
The cost is £65 for adults and £45 for under 18's.
There is a minimum age of 9 years old for juniors taking part in a beginners course; this is for health & safety and physiological reasons (drawing a bow requires a certain amount of muscular strength).
The beginners course consists of four separate 2 hour sessions. It is designed to allow students to experience the sport of archery utilising different bows and shooting styles. On completion of the course the student will have a good appreciation and understanding of archery safety and a basic awareness of good shooting posture.
On completing the course, the adult or junior student may decide that archery isn't for them and stop shooting altogether or they can join Hinckley Archery Club and continue to develop their shooting skills.
The club benefits from a number of Level 1, 2 and 3 coaches with more than 25 years experience.
DO I NEED MY OWN EQUIPMENT?
For students joining Hinckley Archery Club, beginners equipment is available to use until the archers feels it is time to purchase their own equipment. This can be new or second hand. Club members are always available to give advice if needed.
Hinckley Archery Club also offers taster sessions on a 1-2-1 basis. These 2 hour sessions take place with an ArcheryGB qualified instructor and are designed to teach the basics of archery technique.
The price for this is £25 for 2 people or £35 for up to a group of 4. Unfortunately, due to instructor work commitments, taster sessions only take place at weekends or by pre-arranged appointment.
LOCAL EVENT 'HAVE-A-GO' DEMONSTRATIONS
